At the Mount Druitt Children’s Centre, we pride ourselves on fostering not only children’s growth, but the growth of entire families. Here, everyone feels a sense of belonging. With an extensive waitlist driven by strong word-of-mouth recommendations, we know we have built something special.
Where our centre shines is our commitment to fostering strong bonds and providing continuity of care.
Many of our educators are studying to become early childhood teachers, so they are passionate about the industry. Our director has proudly led the centre for 22 years, a testament to the passion the team brings to work every day.
We also have an exceptionally low staff turnover. You’ll rarely be greeted by an unknown casual worker. You can expect your child to grow up with the same educators, building strong, lasting relationships.
The team agree that a highlight of the job is the notable transformation in a child’s confidence. Some children arrive unable to speak a word of English and often, within weeks, they are settled, thriving and can communicate in whole sentences.

Our Children’s Centre at Mount Druitt warmly welcomes children and families from all backgrounds. We have the highest population (85-90%) of families in the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) across all TAFE NSW Children’s Centres. This is something we’re proud of, as we see first hand how the program supports local migrant families by offering subsidised childcare while they study. While we are a preferred centre by many AMEP families, we warmly encourage anyone to apply.
We also have a strong kinship with land and nature at the Mount Druitt Centre. We have a dedicated vegetable garden that focuses on bush tucker. Children participate in cooking classes to learn how to cook healthy food using our freshly picked produce. And families are welcome to take some of our fresh produce home.
We also have a purpose-built yarn circle with stepping stones, which provides a special place for storytelling and cultural exchange.
At Mount Druitt Children’s Centre, you will feel welcomed in a child-initiated environment where no two days are exactly alike. We aim to tailor routines to suit each child and family’s needs, ensuring a sense of comfort and security. Children are greeted warmly at the door and encouraged to settle into the day at their own pace. Child-led activities allow learning through play, creativity and socialisation.
We have plenty of indoor, outdoor, and nature learning and also playactivities and opportunities for quiet time. Our educators encourage children to interact in areas that interest them using a play-based approach. Children can enjoy the vegetable garden and bush tucker experiences and join yarn circles.
Children participate in progressive meals and we embrace diverse eating habits, such as eating with hands. Following their usual routines makes the children feel at ease and at home during meal times. Families are also welcome to join us for lunch. After lunch, there is a quiet time, which allows children to rest and recharge before re-engaging in more activities for the afternoon.
“We are welcomed with open arms every time we come in to the TAFE NSW Mount Druitt Children’s Centre. I love how my daughter is cared for in a safe environment, with all the toys she loves to play with daily. I am so lucky to have educators that make a real difference in her start to life”.

We know how critical your child’s care is and how nerve-racking it can be searching for the right centre. That’s why we offer one-on-one time with each family before enrolling, to take some of the stress out of this big step. We also strive to provide interpreters and/or translated documents for our non-English-speaking families.
If you are interested in joining us, you can complete an Application for Care Form and email it to us below. You can also reach out to discuss orientation days, organise a walk-through or meet and greet.
