Industry partnerships

Industry partnerships at TAFE NSW focus on delivering training that meets in-demand skills.

By collaborating with industry leaders, we:

    • co-design tailored programs
    • provide practical, real-world learning experiences
    • align educational practices with current and future workforce needs.

These partnerships ensure graduates are equipped with the skills that employers seek, driving workforce development and industry growth.

    Co-design programs to your needs

By collaborating with businesses, we can identify the specific needs of your organisation to co-design tailored workforce training programs. Together, we can support your teams to refine their microskills and upskill, quickly and efficiently.

We proactively partner with industry to develop workforce training and support services that are:

    • innovative
    • customised
    • flexible.

Our programs offer quick, future-focused pathways to close skills gaps. They also promote lifelong learning through industry-driven practices across various institutions and qualification levels.

    Co-deliver

By working closely with organisations, we leverage the expertise of industry professionals to document and develop targeted training programs. Our experienced TAFE teachers work with businesses to design comprehensive programs that can use company facilities, machinery and resources for a holistic learning experience.

With industry-led practice top of mind, we partner with industry experts to mentor, challenge and guide our learners.

This collaborative approach ensures graduates are:

    • highly skilled
    • job-ready
    • prepared for future industry demands.

    Co-locate

Co-location is about sharing facilities and resources across campuses to enhance the transition from education to employment. It enables us to foster innovation and skills development while adopting industry-aligned practices.

For example, partnerships like the Port Macquarie/NSW Health Alliance or Kingscliff initiatives bring together industry stakeholders to identify needs and shared goals.

    Co-location also helps to:

    • lower costs
    • provide learners with easy access to the workplace
    • align programs with industry demands.

    Co-innovate

Together, we improve educational and training outcomes by leveraging cutting-edge resources and advanced delivery methods. Through co-innovation, we develop:

    • forward-thinking curricula that address emerging industry trends
    • practical tools that enhance learning experiences
    • methodologies that promote adaptable, skills-based training.

This collaborative approach ensures that education remains:

    • relevant
    • dynamic
    • aligned with future workforce needs.

    Special projects

Our projects, such as the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) and Centres of Excellence (CoE), aim to drive innovation. They simultaneously deliver high-quality education and training programs.

Through these partnerships, we create impactful solutions that address local needs, enhance skills development, and support economic growth across communities.

We focus on strategic initiatives by partnering with:

    • training providers
    • education providers
    • regional NSW organisations.

    Joint commercial initiatives

TAFE NSW’s joint commercial initiatives focus on delivering skills development and creating direct pathways to employment. This ensures individuals are equipped for the evolving demands of the workforce.

By collaborating with industry leaders, we:

    • explore new opportunities
    • test innovative approaches
    • transform lives through education.

    Collaborative community initiatives

TAFE NSW proactively engages in partnerships that drive social impact and social equity, aiming to foster positive community outcomes.

An example of this approach is our pre-employment program in Murrin Bridge, which partnered with WaterNSW and Diona to equip local Indigenous students with essential construction skills.

These partnerships provide training opportunities that help close the gap, create career pathways and support Aboriginal communities. It does so by providing long-term skill development and employment prospects.
