    At TAFE NSW, we support learners from non-English speaking backgrounds and multicultural communities. We are committed to helping you start your education and support your learning, with a range of services.

    Interpreters and translation

    To call us using an interpreter, please call the National Translating and Interpreting Service on 131 450 and ask them to connect you with us at 131 601.

    If you need a face-to-face interpreter, call (02) 8255 6767 and they will help arrange this.

    If you need documents translated, contact Multicultural Services NSW.

    Cultural and Linguistic Diversity (CALD) Coordinators

    CALD Coordinators assist in finding courses, programs, and job support services. To get started, email us to find your local CALD Coordinator. 

    Support programs

    Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP)

    AMEP can help you learn English, and provide free English lessons and childcare to eligible migrants and refugees. If you need assistance with this program, call 1800 114 707.

    Skills for Education and Employment (SEE)

    The SEE program helps improve your reading, writing, maths and digital skills to increase your employment opportunities. The course is free if you meet the eligibility criteria.

    Skilled Migrant Employment Program (SMEP)

    SMEP, previously Skillmax, is a pathways course for skilled overseas professionals preparing for the Australian job market. The course is free if you meet the eligibility criteria.

    Other services

    TAFE NSW offers recognition of overseas qualifications and training. We acknowledge the skills and knowledge you may have acquired from work, volunteering or prior study.

    We provide Validation of Overseas Qualifications (VoOS) by assessing qualifications using the Country Education Profile (CEP) database. The VoOS process includes providing a letter stating the equivalent Australian qualification level and a referral for recognition and gap training.
