    Overview

Our Blacktown Children’s Centre provides a nurturing and flexible environment where children aged 6 weeks to 5 years are encouraged to explore, play freely and follow their natural interests.

Our spacious yard and outdoor area are designed to inspire active play and discovery. This aligns with our core philosophy of promoting physical activity and supporting children's curiosity through play and exploration.

The centre has two rooms. One is for infants and toddlers (0-3 years) and accommodates up to 16 children per day. It includes a cot room and breastfeeding facilities. The other is for preschoolers (3-5 years) and accommodates 24 children per day. This room offers a preschool program designed to support early learning.

    About us

Our centre embraces a child-focused approach, providing children with the opportunity to:

    • lead their own activities and explore their interests at their own pace
    • follow a flexible schedule that adapts to their needs
    • experience a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Our educators tailor the curriculum to each child, creating meaningful learning experiences that align with their individual growth and development.

    Sustainability and the environment

Our centre is committed to teaching children eco-friendly practices through:

    • activities like tending to worm farms, using compost bins and separating waste with colour-coded bins
    • open garden spaces, including a bush tucker garden where children grow native plants and vegetables
    • the preparation of food that the centre has harvested, fostering a deeper connection to nature and sustainability.

Our experienced staff, many with over 10 years of service, lead these initiatives to help children develop an understanding of environmental responsibility.

We also participate in the Munch & Move program, which encourages healthy eating and helps children develop fundamental movement skills like running, jumping and skipping.

    A typical day

A typical day at our centre is guided by the child’s needs and preferences, with a mix of play, learning and rest.

Activities, mealtimes and learning experiences are flexible to encourage socialisation and exploration across different age groups.

Nap time runs from 11am to 2pm, providing a welcome rest for those who need it.

    • Medicare card
    • Health care/Pension card (if you have one)
    • Immunisation record (must be through Medicare, blue books are not accepted).

Please note: Children must meet government immunisation requirements or have an approved exemption to be eligible for Child Care Subsidy (CCS)

    How to enrol

There are five steps to complete enrolment:

    • Apply for Child Care Subsidy (if eligible) – To be confirmed between the Early Childhood Director (ECD) and parents/guardians.
    • Agree on care arrangements – The ECD and parent/guardian confirm the child’s care details.
    • Submit enrolment – The ECD submits an enrolment notice to Centrelink via HubHello.
    • Confirm enrolment – The parents/guardians verify the enrolment with Centrelink.
    • Secure enrolment –  If you accept an offer, we’ll send a formal letter detailing the next steps. This includes submitting a birth certificate, proof of immunisation and a security deposit to secure your childcare placement.

Once the enrolment is completed and approved your entitlements can be calculated, and payments made. If there are no vacancies, we can add you to the waiting list.

Under Family Assistance Law, all children attending an early learning centre must have an enrolment notice, regardless of CCS eligibility. For eligible families, Centrelink/Services Australia can only process CCS claims once the correct enrolment is in place.
