    • Prepare survival craft for launch

    • Pre-start and start survival craft and rescue boats

    • Locate lifesaving and survival equipment as part of a vessel's operation

    • Give orders to passengers to disembark

    • Check survival craft and equipment for signs of damage and faults

    Entry recommendations

    To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

    • Intermediate level fitness to manage physical demands

    • The ability to swim 50 metres and stay afloat for 5 minutes without a life jacket

    • The ability to work at sea as well as with people in difficult situations and circumstances

    • Awareness of the AMSA certification requirements

    • The ability to attend practical assessment sessions on campus and/or related facilities

    • Suitable clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE) for your assessments. Contact your prospective campus for practical assessment locations, dates and clothing/PPE requirements.
