A nationally accredited qualification at a certificate III level
120 hours of work placement experience within the allied health industry

During your study you’ll need to provide your teacher with the following evidence:
To complete your work placement setting, your employer may require the following evidence:
Working with Children Check (WWCC)
National Police Check
Vaccination and health screenings
Evidence of an up-to-date vaccination history to be determined by your work placement
Any additional evidence your work placement provider requires
If your work placement is with NSW Health you must also sign the NSW Health Code of Conduct and any other forms, complete mandatory online modules, take an occupational assessment, undergo mask fit testing and provide your health care worker/student vaccination record. Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10 high school level
TAFE NSW may ask you to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills test. This helps us to understand your individual study needs, to design an individualised plan that supports your study success and ensures your LLN skills match the demands of the course.
Entry recommendations
To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:
An interest in, or experience working in a health-related field
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Adequate fitness and mobility to deliver First Aid, such as performing CPR while kneeling on the floor
Good manual handling skills and the ability to stand for long periods of time

UnitsUnits taught in this course
Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Allied Health Assistance qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 12 units of competency, including 7 core and 5 speciality units.
Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
