There are no nationally uniform laws and regulations to govern the use of lasers, IPLs and LED phototherapy in the cosmetic industry. Requirements are determined by the state or territory jurisdiction in which a business operates. Currently, lasers for cosmetic purposes are only regulated in Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia, while IPLs are only regulated in Tasmania.
