Non-apprenticeship

• Non-apprenticeship pathways for trade-related qualifications allow you to have your industry skills assessed through recognition of prior learning (RPL) and undertake gap training to gain a trade qualification. To take this course as a non-apprenticeship, you must:

• Be at least 21 years of age, as evidenced by photo identification

• Have at least 2 years of work experience in this occupation or trade, as evidenced by employee records such as your resume and/or letters from your employers

• Be currently employed in the relevant industry, as evidenced by a letter from your employer

• Qualified barber

• Freelance session stylist

• Creative/artistic director

• Technical or sales advisor

• Business owner/operator

• Franchise owner/operator

• Screen media entertainment

• Successful completion of the unit SHBBINF002 - Maintain infection control standards, as evidenced by your certificate or transcript, or

• Successful completion of the unit HLTINF005 - Maintain infection prevention for skin penetration treatment, as evidenced by your certificate or transcript.

• Successful completion of the Certificate IV in Beauty Therapy as evidenced by your certificate or transcript. You may need to attend a gap assessment prior to enrolment. A teacher may contact you to discuss, or

• You’ll need to provide a transcript of your Diploma of Beauty Therapy AND

• You must have 12 months post-qualification experience as a beauty therapist with a primary focus on providing facial services, skin services and hair reduction services, as evidenced by a letter from your employer OR

• You’ll need to provide a transcript of your qualification as an Enrolled or Registered Nurse AND

• You must have 12 months qualification experience in the application of knowledge in human biology, anatomy and physiology, as evidenced by a letter from your employer

• OR

• You are an Enrolled Nurse or Registered Nurse, as evidenced by an academic transcript AND have 12 months post-qualification experience in the application of knowledge in human biology, anatomy and physiology, as evidenced by a letter from an employer

• Current employment as a manager or supervisor in the hair and beauty industry, as evidenced by a letter from your employer

• Before your first day of class you must complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills test. This helps us to determine that your skills match the demands of the course, to direct you to an alternative study option or to provide you with the appropriate support for your success. Your teacher will let you know when this must be completed.
