During this course you'll learn to:
Apply statutory and regulatory requirements to welding procedures
Interpret welding terms, codes and symbols
Determine the effects of heat treatment on metal in relation to welding
Plan the logical sequence of welding operations

A pathway to further study in AS1796 welding certificates 1-9
The ability to understand the theory related to the practical applications of welding
Some courses require evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol
One year of welding experience during or after an apprenticeship, including 40 hours training in the use of manual metal-arc welding of plate, as evidenced by your resume or a letter from your employer, OR
Two years of welding experience and the successful completion of one or more welding courses (at least 300 hours training in the theory and practice of welding). Experience must include the welding of plate, using the manual metal-arc welding process, evidenced by a copy of your transcript or certificate, OR
Three years of welding experience and 40 hours training in the welding of plate using the manual metal-arc welding process, as evidenced by your resume or a letter from your employer

To be prepared for this course, we recommend you have:
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10 high school level
Access to a computer with adequate internet connection
Your own notebook and pens
