
This course is for existing tradespeople requiring the knowledge and skills to seek certification to welding standard AS1796 Pressure Welding. You will acquire the practical skills and techniques associated with the welding process to join ferrous plate and pipe in all weld positions, to meet the standards defined by AS1796.
During this course you'll learn to:
Determine job requirements and prepare weld joints to the AS1796 standard
Perform flux core, gas tungsten, gas metal, and metal arc welds to the AS1796 standard
Perform pipe welds to the AS1796 standard
Minimise weld defects and comply to industry standard safety protocols
Apply complex distortion control measures
Perform nick breaks and nick bends

The ability to meet the welding standards defined by AS1796 :2022
A transcript from TAFE NSW and a digital certification card from Weld Australia upon successful completion of both practical and theory components
Enthusiasm to take new welding skills, techniques and knowledge onto the job site
A potential pathway to further study in the fabrication industry
Some courses require evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol
A minimum of one year's experience subsequent to the successful completion of an apprenticeship, as evidenced by a letter from your employer. Or, two or more years' work experience, with at least one training program which includes 300 hours of training, as evidenced by your employer.
