Tenacious, dedicated and skilful are just some of the superlatives used to describe Parkes resident Gaibrielle (Gabe) Manning, who is taking her leadership skills to the next level thanks to TAFE NSW.

After upstaging a quality field to be awarded a Rural Fire Service Association President’s Scholarship in 2018, Gabe chose to enrol in a Diploma of Leadership and Management at TAFE NSW Forbes to advance her leadership skills and knowledge.

As she nears the completion of her training, Gabe continues to learn new skills that are seeing her flourish as the District Administration Officer for the Mid Lachlan Valley NSW Rural Fire Service.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time studying at TAFE NSW – the Diploma is very detailed with a variety of content which contributes immensely to my leadership skills as well as broadening my knowledge of how to successfully work in a team,” Gabe said.

“I find the skills I learn at TAFE assist me on a day-to-day basis when dealing with the public, my colleagues and also help with all tasks that I undertake.

“The staff at TAFE NSW have made this a really positive experience for me, and the NSW Rural Fire Service Association and my colleagues have been a wonderful support along the way.”

Mid Lachlan Valley Team NSW Rural Fire Service Inspector Robyn Favelle District Coordinator described Gabe as a huge asset to the team.

“Gabe is a passionate and dedicated employee of the NSW Rural Fire Service who gives exemplary service to more than 3,000 volunteers of the Mid Lachlan Valley Team,” Inspector Favelle said.

“She is also very efficient and provides high level assistance and support to our management team.

“We are very proud of Gabe’s achievements and commitment to her studies at TAFE NSW. I am sure she will continue to achieve great results as she takes on new challenges in the future.”

TAFE NSW Leadership and Management Teacher Jillian Pennisi added, “Gabe has an outstanding work ethic, her organisation and communication skills are excellent and this TAFE NSW leadership and management training has allowed her to go back to her workplace and test out new theories and concepts.

“Gabe is a great example of a new generation of leaders that are willing to work hard to continually improve themselves through a range of online and face-to-face learning at TAFE NSW.

“I have no doubt the future is in great hands with young leaders like Gabe coming through.”

Ms Pennisi said the Australian Government’s Job Outlook website predicted more than 138,000 new reception and 182,000 new general administration positions across the country over the next five years.

“The Government has also predicted 69,000 new office manager positions, and with the average wage nearly $300 a week more than general receptionists and administrators, now’s the ideal time to consider upskilling for career progression with a leadership and management course at TAFE NSW,” she said.
