A Tenterfield local has urged school leavers to consider a traineeship after ‘finding her calling’ in business administration and real estate management.
Madie Donnolley, 20, secured a position as a business administration trainee at Ray White Tenterfield after finishing high school. Part of completing her traineeship involved attending TAFE NSW Tenterfield one day per week to complete a Certificate III in Business Administration. She’s now working full-time in administration and has her sights on becoming a property manager within the organisation.
“The Certificate III in Business Administration gives you great skills for any workplace you go into,” Ms Donnolley said.
“Completing a traineeship was a great option as I could learn and earn at the same time. I would really recommend it to others; the course has provided me with a pathway to becoming a real estate property manager.
“Studying at TAFE NSW gave me a lot more confidence in terms of how to deal with different people and how to use different Microsoft Office programs.”
According to the Federal Government’s Job Outlook report, business administration jobs are in a steep growth phase nationally, with 231,500 workers expected to be employed in the field by 2022.
Ray White Tenterfield Office Manager Prue Birch praised Madie for her commitment to her studies and said she was a valuable member of the team.
“The skills Madie has learnt at TAFE NSW have really helped her develop into her role and she is using these skills on-the-job every day,” Ms Birch said.
“We are now encouraging Maddie to take the next step in her career by completing a real estate course.”
TAFE NSW Head Teacher of Business Services Kelly Cook said the Certificate III was the minimum requirement for business administration roles in most local organisations.
“It really gives you some well-rounded skills that you can take anywhere,” Ms Cook said.
“You’re always employable if you have the Certificate III in Business Administration.
“Great administration, personal and executive assistants are highly sought after in nearly every industry.”
