TAFE NSW Quirindi student, Jessica Wratten, is encouraging others to consider a career in Information Technology (IT) as figures reveal a high demand for skilled IT workers in regional NSWi.
Ms Wratten’s new career is in sight after choosing to upskill at the Connected Learning Centre after her five young children had grown. She decided to study a Certificate III in Information Digital Media and Technology (IDMT) and is now furthering her knowledge by enrolling in a Certificate IV.
“I have been able to gain a range of practical skills and work experience at the Connected Learning Centre such as how to fix and provide support to people who are experiencing computer issues,” Ms Wratten said.
“Flexibility was really important to me when making the decision to study and TAFE NSW has made it really easy for me, enabling me to work around my children and study when it suits me either from the Connected Learning Centre in Quirindi or from home.
“The teachers are amazing and are only a phone call or email away if I have any questions.”
TAFE NSW Information Technology Teacher, Jeannette Bucher said Jessica was a fantastic student who was able to combine her TAFE NSW study with the demands of raising a young family.
“She completes all her work in a professional manner with exceptional time management. Jessica is on her way to being well equipped with job-ready skills and has a bright future in the IT industry ahead of her.
“TAFE NSW Quirindi’s Connected Learning Centre has a range of IT courses to suit all levels available to the Quirindi community to study in semester one at TAFE NSW.”
Ms Wratten added, “I’m really looking forward to working in the industry, but first I would like to study all that I can, to be the best I can be.”
