NO BARRIER TO SUCCESS: HOW ALEKSANDAR ACHIEVED HIS CAREER GOALS

41-year-old Aleksandar Dabic is proof that being deaf is no barrier to success and is encouraging others to consider the study options available at TAFE NSW to achieve their career goals.

The Merrylands local studied a Diploma of Information Technology Networking at TAFE NSW Meadowbank and has since landed a job as a Consulting Analyst at Telstra Purple.

According to Seek, there is strong demand across the Information and Communication Technology sector this year, due to worker uncertainty and closed borders.

“I’ve always loved to learn new things and I enrolled in the course as I wanted to develop my IT skills and explore my passion in the field. With the support of my teachers, I was able to push myself to complete the course and set myself up for success,” Mr Dabic said.

“The course equipped me with the skills I needed to transition into my current role and hit the ground running. No day is the same in my field which is great for me as I thrive in a dynamic environment.

“My goal is to one day study cyber security, which is a growing field and something which excites me. Technology is changing so fast, which is why I believe it’s so important to continue learning, regardless of your age.”

Head Teacher of Information and Communication Technology, Peter Bush, said the Diploma of Information Technology Networking opens up challenging and rewarding career pathways in the booming corporate sector.

“Aleksandar is prime example of the opportunities TAFE NSW provides those looking to strengthen their IT skills and gain a nationally recognised qualification,” Mr Bush said.

“Students will learn valuable skills such as managing complex ICT networks, performing server virtualisation and cloud computing, and designing, building, configuring and testing Windows servers.”
