TAFE NSW Lithgow student Jeremy Kenny has been recognised for his academic achievement and positive work ethic at the TAFE NSW Excellence Awards in Dubbo this week.
Mr Kenny, who completed a Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation at TAFE NSW Lithgow in 2018, was announced as the winner of the prestigious Health, Wellbeing and Community Services Student of the Year at a gala awards ceremony at Lazy River Estate.
TAFE NSW Regional General Manager, Kate Baxter, commended the winners for the commitment and dedication they have shown to their studies.
“During his TAFE NSW studies, Jeremy worked hard to complete all assessment tasks to a high standard all while juggling work commitments and his personal life.
“Jeremy was a motivated student and has a bright future ahead of him in the outdoor recreation industry.
“The awards emphasise TAFE NSW’s commitment to training the workforce leaders of the future when, where and how it suits them.”
TAFE NSW Outdoor Recreation Teacher, Georgina MacSmith, said during his time at TAFE NSW, Jeremy created a very strong bond with his fellow students and built solid relationships with staff.
“You would often find Jeremy in the classroom at TAFE NSW finishing off assessments when all the other students had gone home.
“He is well suited to working in the outdoor recreation industry and should be commended for all his outstanding achievements.”
Jeremy said that he was excited to receive the award and encouraged anyone who loves the outdoors and wants to make a positive impact on the world to consider enrolling in an Outdoor Recreation course at TAFE NSW.
Students from Orange, Gunnedah, Armidale, Parkes, Bathurst, Lithgow and Dubbo shared the 13 awards that were presented at the ceremony.
