A Yamba local is proving it’s never too late to change career paths, after switching from acting in Los Angeles to creative pursuits in her hometown.
Sabina Lokic returned to Australia from the United States to be closer to her mother when she became ill. She enrolled in a Diploma of Marketing and Communications through TAFE Digital so she could study flexibly.
According to CMO, the Australian marketing industry is expected to rise by nearly 13,000 people within the next five years.
“I enrolled in the course as I was looking to try something new and pursue a creative career locally after living overseas for several years. It can be daunting to learn something new, particularly as a mature aged student, but my teachers were so lovely and supportive,” Ms Lokic said.
“The flexibility of studying online allowed me to juggle caring for my mum while learning new skills, and I’d highly recommend the course to anyone looking to pursue a career in the industry.
“I’ve now been accepted into university to study a Bachelor of Business (Majoring in Marketing) which is incredibly exciting. The TAFE Digital course has not only cut off a year from my degree, it’s given me the confidence I need to hit the ground running.”
TAFE NSW Business Services teacher Eddy Widjaja said the Bachelor of Business equips students like Sabina with the confidence and skills they need to land a job or pursue further study in the field.
“The degree offers a wide range of electives and provides students with in-demand skills in management, economics, finance, technology, marketing, communications, and law and people management,” Mr Widjaja said.
“The Bachelor of Business also offers students an industry internship in the final year so they can gain real world experience. Importantly, by studying online through TAFE Digital, students can study when, where, and how it suits them and set themselves up for success.”
