TAFE NSW Macksville students studying a Certificate II in Career Preparation displayed their creations in an exhibition on Friday night.

Held at Bowraville Community Hall, the exhibition was open to the public, who gazed at the walls covered in the students’ creations.

TAFE NSW Relieving Head Teacher of Career Pathways, Aboriginal Language and Employability Skills, Emily Pellier, said the course equipped students to either move on to a higher qualification or be able to open their own business in their chosen field.

“Students who study this course have usually already found their passion and we know there is a revival for hand crafted, quality products.

“In an era where everything can be bought from big name homeware stores, there is a real demand from the community for individual pieces. TAFE NSW students are capitalizing on that by making one of a kind designs.

"We have a range of artists in this class who paint, 3D print, create mosaics and sculpt beautiful pieces.”

TAFE NSW student Lee Hamilton has a past life as a painter. He has since been honing his skills as a 3D printer at TAFE NSW and hopes to stock his creations in stores around the Mid North Coast.

“I am creative by nature and TAFE NSW has helped me to hone my business and planning skills so I am equipped to start a profitable business.

“It’s amazing the things you can make when you really work at it.

“Having the opportunity to exhibit my work allows me to get feedback from real customers and tweak the things which I do.”
