    Get your start as a massage therapist in the booming health and wellness sector. You’ll learn a wide range of practical massage techniques and develop your ability to assess client needs, provide massage treatments and manage client relationships.

    • 80 hours of clinical practice treating 40 clients at the public massage clinic run at the campus and supervised by your teachers

    • Customer facing interactions requiring conducting a consult

    • The ability to provide treatment direction and planning

    • The ability to practice as a massage therapist independently, join massage associations and get public liability and professional negligence insurance

    • A pathway to further study in a range of other health-related qualifications

    Completion requirements

    During your study you’ll need to provide your teacher with the following evidence:

    • A Working with Children Check (WWCC) may be required to complete your course requirements at a TAFE NSW clinic

    • Trainees must be able to attend campus to complete their clinical practice

    Licensing

    Although a licence is not compulsory to work in the massage therapy industry, some massage associations will require all practitioners and student members to have a National Police Check. Please check your state or territory association for any other requirements.

    Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Massage Therapy qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 13 units of competency, including 10 core and 3 speciality units.

    Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
