Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:
Conduct a site survey and identify hazard impacts, site access, infrastructure and to consider component placement
Plan work to customer consultation, risk assessments, WHS/OHS live testing, install diagrams and requirements
Install, test and commission photovoltaic (PV) arrays to the job design, industry standards, regulations and manufacture's specifications
Interpret available site survey information to determine grid system options and establish stakeholder roles to brief designer and implementation teams
Develop and check PV connected grid system designs to job brief, compliance requirements, workplace procedures and submit final job designs
Gather site survey specific documents for WHS/OHS, client expectations, project roles, responsibilities and deliverables agreements and procedural processes to mitigate risks
Gain practical experience and develop specialist skills that give you an advantage in the job market.

This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol
Unrestricted Electrical license as evidenced by a copy of your Contractor License or Qualified Supervisor Certificate, or
Successful completion of the unit UEEEL0039 Design, install and verify compliance and functionality of general electrical installations as evidenced by a copy of your transcript or certificate, or
Successful completion of the unit UEERE0051 Apply electrical principles to renewable energy design as evidenced by a copy of your transcript or certificate

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:
Experience working in an electrical trade
Enclosed safety boots or equivalent for roofing work
Safety glasses
Long sleeve shirt and long trousers

You need to hold an Unrestricted Electricians Licence, or its equivalent issued in an Australian state or territory, in order to apply for jobs in the industry. Successful completion of the Statement of Attainment in Grid Connected Photovoltaic Systems – Design and Install, will mean you are eligible to apply for recognition of your skills to Solar Accreditation Australia. This will mean you can participate in the Clean Energy Regulator (CER) Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme. Registering ensures you meet industry standards, which is essential for issuing Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs). STCs provide financial benefits to the public by offering incentives through the Australian Government's renewable energy schemes reducing the cost of installing solar systems.
