    Put yourself on the front lines of the housing crisis by building relationships with people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Understand your responsibilities as a housing officer and explore the many services that can assist your clients.

    Learning outcomes

    Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

    • Build caring and supportive relationships with diverse people

    • Operate under a duty of care and act as a mandatory reporter

    • Identify and prioritise the needs of your clients

    • Make referrals to appropriate services, such as child support services

    • Recognise and respond appropriately to domestic and family violence

    • Understand legal processes and procedures regarding applications, tenancy agreements, rent and rental arrears

    Licensing

    To work in the industry, you will generally require a Working with Children Check (WWCC), National Police Check (NPC), and various vaccinations including influenza and COVID 19.

    Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Housing qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 15 units of competency, including 8 core and 7 speciality units.
