Entry requirements
This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol
That you are employed in the civil construction industry and have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience including conducting site risk assessments and quality checklists as evidenced by a letter from your employer
The ability to access at least 300 hours of relevant experience at your place of work over your course duration
That you hold a valid general construction induction card (commonly known as a white card) as evidenced by providing a copy of your white card

Entry recommendations
To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:
Intermediate computer skills for emails and computer use
Maths skills to determine volumes, areas, weights
The ability to read drawings, specifications and longer reports such as environmental, safety and quality reports
An understanding of workplace policies such as codes of conduct
Experience developing toolbox talks in the industry
The ability to work well as part of a team
Exposure to risk and hazard assessments on a construction site
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10/12 high school level

Licensing
A white card (or general construction induction card) is required for any worker who needs to access a construction site. Local regulations should also be checked for requirements. Visit the SafeWork website for more information on applying for your white card.

UnitsUnits taught in this course
Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Civil Construction (Supervision) qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 12 units of competency, including 5 core and 7 speciality units.
Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
