    Learning outcomes

    Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

    • Perform scheduled inspections, fault diagnosis and repairs

    • Modify airframes and airframe mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems

    • Assess and adjust aircraft engines and propellers

    • Test and repair fixed wing, gas turbine, propeller or rotary wing aircraft

    • Experience working on real decommissioned aircraft such as fixed wing, gas turbine, propeller or rotary wing aircraft at your TAFE NSW campus

    • Experience onsite in real avionic workshops

    • Skills to assess and repair real aircraft in your workplace

    • Demonstrate your skills under the supervision of a licensed aircraft maintenance engineer

    • Qualifications to practise as an aircraft maintenance engineer under the supervision of a licensed aircraft maintenance engineer

    • A strong pathway to further study in the Diploma of Aeroskills (Mechanical) and subsequent qualifications to become a licensed aircraft maintenance engineer

    Entry requirements

    This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol

    • Be employed as an apprentice in industry as evidenced by a letter of support from your employer

    • Submit your Training Plan Proposal (TPP) with your application

    During your study you’ll need to provide your teacher with the following evidence:

    • An Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
