    Develop the technical skills to master your drawing style. Whether you’re experienced in game development, illustration and animation, or just starting out, you’ll learn to professionalise your concept designs to produce compelling characters.

    Learning outcomes

    Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

    • Design a character from scratch, replicating the industry standard workflow

    • Draw characters from the front, side and back. In industry, this is known as a 'turnaround'

    • Produce a portfolio of professional concept character drawings

    • Build physical 3D modelling clay representations of characters

    • Draw models in costume to learn about how bodies and garments move

    • Incorporate feedback to improve your work

    • A nationally accredited Statement of Attainment in Concept Character Design

    Entry recommendations

    To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

    • Drawing experience

    • Interest in generating visual concept designs for games and animation

    • An eye for design

    • Access to drawing materials such as pencil and paper

    • If you choose to draw digitally you will need access to a laptop Wacom or tablet
