To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:
An interest in horticulture, agriculture, aquaculture and in conservation by pest control and control of weeds and diseases
Students require Local Cultural Knowledge necessary to achieve competency in this course, and knowledge which may only be accessible to Aboriginal Peoples. This course also reflects the fact that there is no single Aboriginal Culture. TAFE NSW recommend students seek endorsement of Local Aboriginal Community and Local Aboriginal leadership when enrolling in this course. Students who are Aboriginal People from another/different Aboriginal Nation, must provide evidence of communication/support from the Local Aboriginal Community and/or local Aboriginal leadership when enrolling.
Students must provide personal protective clothing (PPE), including a cotton long-sleeved shirt, cotton long-legged pants, leather work boots and a brimmed hat suitable for working outdoors. All other task-specific PPE will be supplied by TAFE NSW unless otherwise advised by the class teacher.
You will also need access to a computer and internet at your home base or can access a TAFE NSW campus or Connected Learning Centre (CLC) in your region. Students who do not meet the above requirements should contact TAFE Student Services to discuss their options.

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in On Country Management qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 12 units of competency, including 3 core and 9 speciality units.
Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
