If you’re on a permanent visa in Australia, you can apply to study at one of our campuses. You may enrol into Fee for Service training or be eligible to enrol in subsidised training in New South Wales (NSW) under the Smart and Skilled program.
As a permanent visa holder and a NSW Registered Apprentice or Trainee, you can enrol into the NSW subsidised training under the Smart and Skilled program. To check your eligibility and for the Smart and Skilled program, please visit our Student Services Fact Sheet for visa holders.
Under the Smart and Skilled program, your fee will be the student apprenticeship or traineeship fee.
Any unpaid fees and charges may limit your access to results or awards you may have earned, and action may be taken to recover any outstanding fees.
If you’re in Australia on a temporary visa that allows you to study, you can apply to study with us by doing the following:
You’ll only be enrolled if a place is available and you meet the entry requirements for your chosen course. Entry requirements are listed in the course information.
As a temporary visa holder, you’ll need to pay the full fee that applies to your course.
If you’re on a temporary visa, your residency status will be verified with the Department of Home Affairs. Any false claims about residency status may exclude you from our courses.
If your temporary visa or the conditions of your visa change while you're studying at TAFE NSW, you’ll need to let us know. You can do this by contacting the Temporary Visa Holder Officer at your campus.
You’re responsible for meeting your visa conditions, including maintaining the currency of your visa. See your Rights and Responsibilities as a student of TAFE NSW.
You’ll only be enrolled into a course if your visa is current. It’s your responsibility to provide us with visa documents that are up to date.
If your visa only allows you to study for a set period of time, we can only enrol you into study for the duration of that time.
If your visa has no end date, you can still enrol. However, the Department of Home Affairs will hold you accountable if you need to leave Australia.
