Support for Bachelor of Interior Design students
Reach your interior design goals with the Stylecraft First Nation Scholarship. If you’re an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander studying a Bachelor of Interior Design (HE20501V03) at TAFE NSW, we want to hear from you.
The Stylecraft First Nation Scholarship recognises the importance of a voice with Country through interior design. Each scholarship provides financial support of up to $51,600 toward tuition fees and educational support throughout your studies.

Who can apply?
To apply for the Stylecraft First Nation Scholarship, you must:
- meet the Bachelor of Interior Design (HE20501V03) admission requirements or an associated pathway course (please refer to frequently asked questions below)
- identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and be enrolled in the Bachelor of Interior Design (HE20501V03) at TAFE NSW Design Centre Enmore campus (either directly or through one of the pathways listed in frequently asked questions below)
- demonstrate commitment to your study and career goals. You can do this by listing achievements, creating an action plan or identifying your skills and strengths
- be a good student and represent TAFE NSW well. You can do this by sharing positive grades and attendance records, character traits or values
- commence your approved course in Semester 1, 2024 and not defer.

Frequently asked questions
Please be aware that receiving this scholarship will result in the revocation of any other TAFE NSW scholarship, grant, or bursary currently held.
To qualify for admission to the Bachelor of Interior Design (HE20501V03) , you must provide evidence of at least one of the following:
- NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) or an equivalent qualification
- a recognised Tertiary Preparation Certificate
- a Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification at Certificate IV level or higher
- completion of a minimum of one year's full-time study, or its equivalent, in a degree program at a higher education institution.
In addition to the entry requirements above, you are also required to provide a portfolio of artwork and design. The portfolio does not necessarily need to be directly associated with interior design but should include the following:
- a 500-word essay detailing your engagement with creative endeavours in the past, such as experiences in school, TAFE NSW, or any distinctive creative pursuits
- eight samples of your own art or design creations, including drawings, paintings, sketches, cultural arts, photography, digital media, and fashion or textile designs.
In case you do not meet the minimum entry criteria, there are alternative qualifications available as pathways to the Bachelor of Interior Design (HE20501V03):
The Stylecraft First Nation Scholarship is awarded under the condition that you enrol in the Bachelor of Interior Design (HE20501V03) or any of the alternative pathway courses listed above, and maintain an active enrolment status. Any alteration in your enrolment status, such as withdrawal from the course, may result in the termination of your scholarship.
The scholarship selection panel appointed by TAFE NSW carefully assesses valid applications based on merit and eligibility. Decisions are made with care, and outcomes are communicated within three weeks of the application closing date.
