    Are you female, part of the LGBTIQA+ community or culturally and linguistically diverse? The Newcastle Lord Mayor’s Inclusion Scholarship Program empowers diversity and supports the City of Newcastle‘s commitment to social inclusivity.

    This scholarship program nurtures local TAFE NSW students in their quest for excellence by offering financial support so they can successfully complete their studies, launch a career or start a new business venture.

    There are three (3) scholarships available in 2024, each worth $1,000 (AUD)

    • The Women Empowered Scholarship for students who identify as female
    • The Pride Scholarship for members of the LGBTIQA+ community
    • The Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Scholarship for students from non-English speaking backgrounds

    Who can apply?

    To apply for one of the Newcastle Lord Mayor’s Inclusion Scholarships, you must:

    • be currently enrolled and studying with TAFE NSW
    • be either living or studying within the Newcastle Local Government Area (LGA)
    • be a deserving individual who consistently applies yourself to achieving your goals and would benefit from the support provided by this scholarship
    • demonstrate your commitment to, and involvement in, your community, e.g. volunteer positions, community activities or advisory groups
    • be an ideal ambassador for the City of Newcastle and the Hunter TAFE Foundation
    • not hold other scholarships for the same course that are equal to or greater in value.

    You can arrange an appointment with a counsellor by phoning 131 601 and selecting option five, then option 2. You can also use this option to access disability services or referral to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student support services.
