Created by Woolworths in partnership with TAFE NSW, the ‘Mini Woolies’ program helps to provide students with intellectual disabilities, sensory disabilities, and autism with the skills they need to gain employment in a modern supermarket. The program launched its first training facility with the opening of TAFE NSW ‘Fresh Food’ in Loftus in 2023 with the plan to open other TAFE NSW locations in 2024. The first one to open in March 2024 is TAFE NSW in Shellharbour.
Broaden your skills and become an integral part of the booming retail sector. Learn consumer engagement and merchandise management skills valued in customer service and retail assistant roles. Support large and small retail businesses, what with further study, could even include your own.
Each TAFE NSW ‘Fresh Food’ training facility replicates a real Woolworths supermarket, allowing people with disabilities to gain job-ready skills in an accessible and safe learning space.
Getting hands-on at TAFE NSW ‘Fresh Food’ simulated retail environment, students will build their confidence while gaining practical skills in areas like point of sale, receiving and handling stock, and communicating with customers. Alongside their practical training, students will work towards completing nationally recognised units from Certificate II in Retail and be connected with employers to assist with a successful transition to the workplace.
