    Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

    • Plan and deliver group aqua fitness sessions for a range of abilities and fitness levels

    • Identify the role of anatomy and physiology in aqua fitness instruction

    • Instruct shallow water classes with and without equipment

    • Explain safety information to participants

    Entry recommendations

    To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

    • The ability to swim unassisted, and confidence in and around the water. This is essential for performing your assessments.

    • An appreciation for exercise and a desire to help people achieve their fitness goals

    • Swimwear appropriate for vigorous exercise

    • Participated in three aqua fitness classes before you begin the course

    • Some experience in performing basic water rescue drills at your place of employment

    You must have current first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification to work in the fitness industry, and any other health checks or certifications your employer requires.
