    Pursue a career as a highly regarded property valuer and combine your business skills, networking ability and keen eye for detail to manage diverse property valuation matters. The TAFE NSW Bachelor of Property Valuation is the only specialist valuation degree in Australia. As a graduate, you will have the skills required to work in the property valuation industry across residential, commercial and other specialist areas.

    This degree is accredited by the Australian Property Institute, and graduates are eligible to apply for an Associate Level Membership with at least two years professional experience.

    Learning outcomes

    Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

    • Work professionally using a wide range of knowledge about valuation, including study of the built environment, property law, court judgements, economic trends and ethical business practices

    • Synthesise complex theoretical knowledge and industry insights to calculate accurate valuations. Consider factors such as business needs, environmental factors, international regulations and cultural protocols to arrive at professional and ethical property valuations.

    • Undertake professional practice founded on a comprehensive and in-depth knowledge across a range of property classes

    • Take charge of your own learning and development, confidently tackle problem-solving, apply reflection and critical thinking, and learn to adapt to a constantly evolving environment

    • Communicate professionally as a valuer with the ability to articulate, critique and defend decisions clearly, both in writing and verbally

    Entry requirements

    This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol

    You must demonstrate that you have achieved one of the following:

    • A NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) or its equivalent or

    • A Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation or its equivalent or

    • A completed certificate IV or higher vocational qualification

    You must also:

    • Submit a 500 word essay that shows your motivation to study and work in the property valuation industry

    • Attend a pre-admission interview where you may also be asked to complete a short literacy and numeracy task - this helps us to understand how we can support your study success and provide you with any necessary support

    Note:

    • Your certificates, transcripts and other entry requirement evidence must be certified through a Justice of the Peace or other authorising officer

    Entry recommendations

    To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

    • An interest in the property market and different types of land usage

    • An interest in working with people from a wide range of backgrounds

    • The ability to explore ideas and think critically

    • An interest in a career that combines office hours and working in the field

    • The capability to create and write complex documents such as valuation reports

    • Mathematic skills at a Year 12 or equivalent level

    • If you are enrolled in the fully online version of this course you must have your own PC or laptop to access study materials and complete assessments.

    You do not require an ATAR score for entry into this course.
