    Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

    • Use Microsoft Word and Excel for accounting purposes

    • Manage budgets for businesses and corporations

    • Prepare tax documents for individuals and companies

    • Process complex payroll transactions

    • Apply legal principles to accounting

    Entry requirements

    This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol

    • Successful completion of the following units as evidenced by your transcript: FNSACC321 Process financial transactions and extract interim reports; FNSACC322 Administer subsidiary accounts and ledgers; FNSACC418 Work effectively in the accounting and bookkeeping industry; FNSACC421 Prepare financial reports (which is the equivalent version of BSBFIA401 Prepare financial reports)

    • These competencies may have been achieved through completion of the Statement of Attainment in Accounting Principles Skill Set or Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping or their equivalent

    Entry recommendations

    To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

    • Experience in the accounting and financial industries

    • A desire to work in the taxation and commercial law area

    • A passion for numbers

    • Language literacy and numeracy at a Year 12 level

    Licensing

    Some units in this qualification meet the Tax Practitioners Board education requirements. With further study, this means you can register as a tax agent or advisor under Australian taxation law, or as a tax agent under commercial law. If Tax Practitioners Board registration is your goal, please check with your campus before enrolling to ensure it delivers the units you need.

    Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Diploma of Accounting qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 11 units of competency, including 7 core and 4 speciality units.

    Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
