    Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

    • Use a sewing machine to align and sew pattern pieces according to the fabric and product type

    • Control a sewing machine's speed and use an industrial machine confidently

    • Apply principles and elements of fashion design to create your own designer garments

    • Engage in sustainable practices when producing textiles, clothing and footwear

    • Create mood boards and fashion illustrations to visually present design, colour and textile ideas

    To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

    • An interest in fashion and garment creation

    • A reasonable degree of physical fitness to complete machining tasks

    • A moderate level of computer literacy to use design programs

    • Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10 high school level

    Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Apparel, Fashion and Textiles qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 18 units of competency, including 6 core and 12 speciality units.
