    Entry recommendations

    To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

    • Reached at least 17 years of age so you are able to work in the industry serving alcohol at the completion of your course after you turn 18

    • The ability to stand on your feet for long periods of time

    • A willingness to do shift work

    • Good judgement skills

    Have you completed an RSA in NSW in the last 5 years?

    • If you have completed an RSA course in NSW with an approved training provider in the previous five years and obtained an interim certificate or the RSA competency card, you will not be able to complete this Statement of Attainment in Responsible Service of Alcohol. Instead contact Liquor and Gaming NSW to complete the RSA refresher course, as they are the sole provider.

    Licensing

    Liquor and Gaming NSW regulates the liquor industry in NSW. TAFE NSW is approved by Liquor and Gaming NSW to deliver RSA, RCG, ARCG and Licensee/Advanced Licensee courses. At the completion of your course, present your interim RSA certificate to Service NSW to get your competency card. This permits you to work in the industry serving, selling or supplying alcohol. This card has a 5 year expiry, at which time you will need to contact Liquor and Gaming NSW and complete a refresher course to be issued with a new RSA photo competency card. ##Recognition of NSW RSA and RCG competency in other jurisdictions:## Responsible service of alcohol legislative and knowledge requirements differ across borders. Check with the relevant state authority to see if your NSW RSA and RCG competency is recognised.
