    Build your technical skills, operations knowledge, creativity and baking repertoire to be a qualified baker or pastry cook. Study as an apprentice, be inspired and refine your skills as you prepare for success in this practical course.

    Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

    • Make and bake pastry, bread, artisan products, meringues, doughnuts, biscuits, gateaux, tortes and cakes

    • Use a range of baking and cooking equipment

    This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol

    • To take this course as an apprenticeship you need to be employed as an apprentice in the industry as evidenced by a letter of support from your employer and

    • Submit your Training Plan Proposal (TPP) with your application

    To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

    • The ability to be an early riser to enjoy a professional career as a baker

    • Good communication skills

    • An enjoyment of working as part of a team to achieve goals

    • An entrepreneurial spirit

    • The ability to budget for basic baking equipment including a bakery student uniform and other personal protective equipment

    • A willingness to work early mornings or late night shifts and on weekends

    • Digital literacy

    Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Baking qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 19 Units of competency, including 15 core and 4 speciality units.
