To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:
Literacy and numeracy skills at a Year 10 high school level, or equivalent
An interest in maths, physics and science
Comfortability working indoors, outdoors and from heights

Career pathways
Our graduates go onto roles like: apprentice electrician, apprentice refrigeration and air-conditioning mechanic, apprentice electronics and communication technician and apprentice electrical fitter.
Licensing
A white card (or general construction induction card) is required for workers who want to carry out construction work in NSW. This is specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007). Visit the SafeWork website for more information on applying for your white card.

UnitsUnits taught in this course
Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate II in Electrotechnology (Career Start) qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 410 Weighting points, including 270 core and 140 speciality units.
Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
