    Become a trade-qualified sheet metal worker and collaborate with like-minded peers who love the challenge of working with metal as much as you do. Develop practical skills in fabrication as you create items like toolboxes, filing cabinets, extraction systems and commercial kitchen benches.

    This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol

    • To take this course as an apprenticeship you need to be employed as an apprentice in the industry as evidenced by a letter of support from your employer and

    • Submit your Training Plan Proposal (TPP) with your application

    To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

    • Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10 high school level

    • The ability to work in different environments, including on and off-site, outdoors, indoors, confined spaces and high-temperature environments

    • Intermediate-level fitness to manage the physical demands of the role

    • An interest in mechanical principles and concepts

    • An enthusiasm for practical skills in mechanical trades, fitting and machining

    Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade (Sheetmetal working) qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 96 units of competency, including 33 core and 63 speciality units.
