    Completion requirements

    During your study you’ll need to provide your teacher with the following evidence:

    • A general construction induction card (commonly known as a white card). You will need this before you can enter a construction site.

    Entry recommendations

    To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

    • The ability to use hand tools like drills and hammers

    • Willingness to work at heights and in confined spaces

    • Literacy and maths skills at an Australian Year 10 level

    • Fitness at an intermediate level to manage physical tasks like shovelling, moving surveying equipment and walking long distances

    • Teamwork and collaborative skills

    Licensing

    A white card (or general construction induction card) is required for workers who want to carry out construction work in NSW. This is specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007). Visit the SafeWork website for more information on applying for your white card.

    Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate II in Civil Construction qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 16 Units of competency, including 10 core and 6 speciality units.
