Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:
Remove, install, inspect and test various systems and mechanical components on aircraft
Interpret aviation maintenance manuals
Carry out routine and fault repair mechanical work
Plan and organise maintenance activities
Work safely and sustainably in an aviation maintenance environment
Gain practical experience and develop specialist skills that give you an advantage in the job market.
Experience working on real decommissioned aircraft such as fixed-wing, gas turbine, propeller or rotary-wing aircraft at your TAFE campus
Experience servicing a variety of aircraft in your workplace
Skills to employ safe and sustainable practice in the avionic maintenance industry
Strong pathways to further avionics study
This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol
Be employed as an apprentice in industry as evidenced by a letter of support from your employer

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Mechanical) (Aircraft Maintenance Stream) qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 21 Units of competency, including 8 core and 13 speciality units.
Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
