    During this course you'll learn to:

    • Analyse memoir excerpts to discover how to determine your style and encourage your own voice

    • Brainstorm ideas

    • Explore different styles of writing, point of view, tone, plot, theme, dialogue and characters

    • Draft a short memoir excerpt based on your own experiences

    • Edit to improve the quality, coherence and appeal of your writing

    You'll leave this course with:

    • The ability to write and edit a 750-word piece based on your memories and experiences. Previous student examples have included family relationship conflict, dealing with dementia and life on a navy warship

    • A sound understanding of how to apply a range of creative writing techniques

    • Transferrable skills in planning, drafting and editing your own written material

    • Confidence in the quality and appeal of your writing
