Analyse memoir excerpts to discover how to determine your style and encourage your own voice
Brainstorm ideas
Explore different styles of writing, point of view, tone, plot, theme, dialogue and characters
Draft a short memoir excerpt based on your own experiences
Edit to improve the quality, coherence and appeal of your writing
Course outcomes
You'll leave this course with:
The ability to write and edit a 750-word piece based on your memories and experiences. Previous student examples have included family relationship conflict, dealing with dementia and life on a navy warship
A sound understanding of how to apply a range of creative writing techniques
Transferrable skills in planning, drafting and editing your own written material
Confidence in the quality and appeal of your writing

Access to the internet and a computer as well as basic digital literacy to use learning resources and complete assignments
