    OverviewAbout this course

    Help people bring their business dreams to life as a qualified shopfitter. Assist in the designing, planning and construction of a range of different shopfronts, store floors and office spaces as you gain creative and in-demand skills valued across the construction industry.

    Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

      • Craft high quality shop fit outs
      • Mould, cut and shape a variety of materials
      • Understand construction plans, drawings and specifications
      • Organise and order materials for jobs
      • Communicate effectively and follow Work Health and Safety (WHS) procedures

    This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol

    • This course is offered as an apprenticeship. Enquire today to check the eligibility requirements.

      • To take this course as an apprenticeship you need to be employed as an apprentice in the industry as evidenced by a letter of support from your employer and
      • Submit your Training Plan Proposal (TPP) with your application​​

    Completion requirements

    During your study you’ll need to provide your teacher with the following evidence:

    • A general construction induction card (commonly known as a white card). You will need this before you can enter a construction site.

    Entry recommendations

    To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

      • Punctuality and professionalism to perform your apprenticeship work duties
      • Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10 high school level
    • TAFE NSW may ask you to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) skills test.

    • This skills test helps us to understand your individual study needs, to design an individualised plan that supports your study success and ensures your LLN skills match the demands of the course.

    UnitsUnits taught in this course

    Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Shopfitting qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 18 Units of competency, including 12 core and 6 speciality units.

    Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
