  • Assessment conditions for Certificate II in Animal Care require learners to have access to an animal care facility. For some delivery locations, this may occur on a TAFE NSW site. Please check your preferred campus location for campus-specific entry requirements.

Entry recommendations

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

  • A passion for animals and their welfare

  • A reasonable fitness level to handle animals and carry out manual lifting

  • The ability to follow basic written instructions and complete tasks safely under supervision

  • Access to a computer or personal device and internet as it would be beneficial to complete home study

  • Appropriate clothing, which may include covered non-slip shoes, trousers and shirts for your classes. TAFE NSW will provide you with other Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is specific to animal care

Units Units taught in this course

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate II in Animal Care qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 12 Units of competency, including 7 core and 5 speciality units.
