    • Complete unit SITHFAB021 Responsible service of alcohol and SITHGAM022 Provide responsible gambling services, to be eligible for the Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) card and the Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RSG) card - cost of $97 and $45

    • Be employed in the hospitality industry as this course is delivered in the workplace

    • Have a signed traineeship contract

    Entry recommendations

    To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

    • Reached at least 17 years of age so you are able to work in the industry serving alcohol at the completion of your course after you turn 18

    • Identified if you have any cultural considerations around serving alcohol as alternate speciality units can be made available to facilitate course completion

    • A willingness to work a variety of hours and shifts during busy periods

    • An interest in working in leadership and management roles

    • A passion for the hospitality industry

    • Great communication skills

    • Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 12 high school level

    Career pathways

    Our graduates go onto roles like: banquet or function manager, bar manager, café manager, club manager, executive housekeeper, front office manager, gaming manager, kitchen manager, motel/hotel/resort manager, restaurant manager and unit manager catering operations.

    Licensing

    Liquor & Gaming NSW regulates the liquor industry in NSW. They have approved TAFE NSW to deliver this training. At the completion of your course, present your interim RSA/RCG certificates to Service NSW to get your competency card that permits you to work in the industry serving, selling or supplying alcohol. Please refer to the Liquor & Gaming NSW website for more information and for current costs. Recognition of NSW RSA and RCG competency in other jurisdictions: Responsible service of alcohol legislative and knowledge requirements differ across borders. Check with the relevant state authority to see if your NSW RSA and RCG competency is recognised.

    Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Diploma of Hospitality Management qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 28 units of competency, including 11 core and 17 speciality units.

    Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
