Learning outcomes

Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

  • Develop knowledge of identity for mentoring Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People

  • Prepare to mentor Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People

  • Provide mentoring to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People

  • Access support networks as a mentor of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People

  • Support young people to create opportunities in their lives

  • Promote Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander cultural safety

Entry recommendations

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

  • Sufficient maturity and work or life experience to enable you to mentor Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander People, within community, organisational and regulatory requirements

  • Undertaken cultural awareness training, such as 11044NAT Course in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Cultural Education, before enrolling in this course if you are a non-Aboriginal learner

  • A desire to make a difference in your community
