A year of prior experience in creating music of some kind. Students may consult with their teachers at the beginning of the course to determine their experience levels.
An interest in music technology
Access to a personal computer, software like Microsoft Office and the internet, as some elements of this course are delivered online. This may be available at a campus library
Availability to potentially attend rehearsals, functions, and live performances outside of class hours, including evenings and weekends

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Music (Creation and Composition) qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 11 Units of competency, including 3 core and 8 speciality units.
Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
