    Learning outcomes

    Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

      • Prepare surfaces for waterproofing
      • Apply waterproofing to a variety of areas – like internal, external, balconies and decks, and below-ground
      • Work safely within the construction waterproofing industry
      • Use tools and equipment – like trowels, paint brushes, rollers, heat welds and torch on membranes
      • Complete hydraulic plugging

    Completion requirements

    During your study you’ll need to provide your teacher with the following evidence:

      • A general construction induction card (commonly known as a white card) – you will need this before you can enter a construction site

    Entry recommendations

    To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

      • Intermediate level fitness to manage physical demands
      • Literacy and numeracy skills at Year 10 high school level or equivalent
      • Good communication skills
      • The ability to work with people
      • Experience in handling tools and equipment
      • Confidence working at heights in the workplace
      • Access to a computer and the internet for revision purposes at home
      • Relevant employment or access to appropriate simulated workplace environments to prove your skills

    Licensing

    A white card (or general construction induction card) is required for workers who want to carry out construction work in NSW. This is specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007). Visit the SafeWork website for more information on applying for your white card. Successful completion of the Certificate III in Construction Waterproofing will mean you are eligible to apply for the NSW Fair Trading Waterproofing License.
