Entry recommendations
To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:
Relevant employment or access to a nursery workplace environment to prove your skills
An intermediate level of physical fitness, as this is a highly practical course
The ability to safely operate machinery or equipment, accurately identify flora, fauna, pests, and diseases associated with plants, interpret landforms and rough topography
The ability to read and interpret maps, and accurately interpret chemical labels, using any necessary assistive technologies if needed
The ability to provide your own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including including leather boots, long pants, a broad-rimmed hat and a long-sleeved shirt
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10 high school level

UnitsUnits taught in this course
Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Nursery Operations (Retail Nursery) qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 16 units of competency, including 9 core and 7 speciality units.
Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
