This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol
Current employment at a vineyard, a Viticulture role or wine industry role, as evidenced by your resume or a letter from your employer
A minimum of 1 year previous industry experience at an operator level, as evidenced by your resume, employer report or letter from your previous employer
Access to a vineyard throughout the period of enrolment to complete project-based assessment activities, as evidenced by your resume, employer report, photos or any other work-based documents
During your study you’ll need to provide your teacher with the following evidence:
Photo identification that you are 18 years or older when commencing the 'Evaluate Wine' (AHCPHT509) unit
Access to a vineyard workplace is essential for assessment, as it must be conducted within a vineyard work environment
To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:
A collaborative and positive approach to teamwork
A self-directed approach to learning
An interest in growing grapes and producing wine
Active participation and engagement in the grape growing and viticulture industries
A willingness to work in a rural environment
Comfort with seasonal work, requiring long hours and weekend work during the grape harvest period (approximately 8-12 weeks during late summer/autumn)
Basic computer skills and access to a computer or suitable device, and the internet

Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Diploma of Viticulture qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 10 units of competency, including 6 core and 4 speciality units.
Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
