During NAIDOC week earlier this month, TAFE NSW's Bathurst Campus showcased the successes of a group of young people keen to make a difference in their community.

The group, known as the Bathurst Young Mob, are educating the next generation with messages of respect, cultural tolerance and being a valued member of the community

Shona Kennedy told The Western Advocate that the group is undertaking many projects passing on their knowledge and experience, to benefit the wider community.

"We wanted to create opportunities for kids that had some disadvantage in their lives." she said. "Essentially the message I wanted to give them was to step outside your comfort zone."

The NAIDOC Week celebration coincided with Bathurst Campus' vocational education and training open day which was attended by staff, students and the wider community.
