Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:
Prepare a landscape design
Design for construction of landscape features
Produce drawings for landscape design projects using CAD software
Design sustainable landscapes
Assess landscape sites
Identify, select and specify plants and trees for landscapes, depending on your speciality units
Prepare estimates, quotes and tenders, depending on your speciality units

Entry requirements
This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol
A NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) or its equivalent, as evidenced by your certificate or transcript, or
Successful completion of a certificate IV or higher vocational qualification, as evidenced by your certificate or transcript, or
Successful completion of the Certificate III in Horticulture or a higher horticulture qualification, as evidenced by your certificate or transcript

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:
Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 12 high school level

UnitsUnits taught in this course
Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Diploma of Landscape Design qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 12 units of competency, including 6 core and 6 speciality units.
Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
Core units are central to the job outcomes of a particular industry or occupation. These are the units industry has agreed are essential to be capable and qualified at a particular study level.
