Entry requirements
This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol
A minimum of 3 years of appropriate work experience in the horticulture industry, as evidenced by your current resume, or
Successful completion of the following units of competency or equivalent, as evidenced by a copy of your transcript or certificate: AHCCHM304 Transport and store chemicals; AHCCHM307 Prepare and apply chemicals to control pest, weeds and diseases; AHCPCM308 Identify and select plants; AHCPMG301 Control weeds; AHCPMG302 Control plant pests, diseases and disorders; AHCSOL304 Implement soil improvements for garden and turf areas; AHCWHS302 Contribute to workplace health and safety processes

Employment in the horticulture industry or in a horticulture role
An eagerness to learn management skills or run your own horticulture enterprise

Career pathways
Our graduates go onto roles like: horticulturist, horticulture manager, parks and gardens manager, local government supervisor in a horticulture or parks and gardens section and horticultural advisory consultant or enterprise owner.
Licensing
Although a licence is not compulsory to work in the horticulture industry, you are able to apply to be a registered horticulturist at the Australian Institute of Horticulture. Visit The Australian Institute of Horticulture for more information.

UnitsUnits taught in this course
Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Diploma of Horticulture Management qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 10 units of competency, including 3 core and 7 speciality units.
Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
